Ice and menthol are often lumped together, but in the head they do different jobs: Ice stands for the pure cold effect that makes every draw frosty without bringing much flavor of its own. Menthol, on the other hand, tastes of something itself – herbal, slightly sharp, reminiscent of menthol candies. Only together do you get what many call "really cold": frost plus flavor. Hardly any flavor combo is therefore built in ex-factory more often, usually with a fruit as carrier – from dark berries via lemon to guava and cactus. Notably strong in this discipline: Aino provides several varieties of the blend at once.
Notable: all ready-made ice-menthol flavors are listed with us as mild Virginia-base – so the combo is beginner-friendly despite the maximum coldness. If you'd rather have the Frost on a strong Darkblend wants, goes for ELMNT Water MG Sunset, where ice and menthol sit on mango and spices.
With this duo there are two ways to go. Pure as 50/50 it's a cold shock for the hardcore – reduced in flavor, but maximally frosty. The smarter use is as a booster: mix around 20–30% Ice-Menthol into a fruit flavor of your choice, then the head gets icy without the flavor getting lost. Even pure Ice like Must H Frosty works as a cold building block if the menthol note is too present for you. As always: loose in the Phunnel pack, 2–3 mm of air to the smokebox (HMD) and natural charcoal instead of self-igniting – especially with fresh flavors you taste charcoal chemicals right away.
