Short & current: Blackburn, Sebero and Jent put to September 1, 2026 from the 200g to the 100g can around, Must H on 125g – the 200g cans are running out. That is no new ban, but a decision by the manufacturers due to increased costs. You will pay for the same amount of tobacco in the future around 33-39% more. As long as stocks last, the 200g cans are still available at the current price. (As of August 3, 2026)

It's the biggest product range news of the year for dark blend fans: four popular brands are saying goodbye to the 200g can. In this post you will get all the facts – what changes and when, what that really costs per gram, why the manufacturers are changing and whether one stock worth it now.
What will change from September 2026?
For the September 1, 2026 Four brands are changing their can sizes - due to increased procurement and production costs. The 200g cans are no longer required:
| Brand | until now | from September 1st, 2026 | new can (announced) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blackburn | 200g tin €35.90 | only 100g left | €24.90 |
| Sebero | 200g tin €34.90 | only 100g left (new format) | €23.90 |
| Jent | 200g tin €35.90 | only 100g left (new format) | €24.90 |
| Must H | 200g tin €35.90 | only 125g | €29.90 |
Two details are important: At Blackburn and Must H The small cans (100g or 125g) are already available today - that's where the main changes are Price (more on this below). At Sebero and Jent The small can, on the other hand, is completely new: Jent was previously only available in a 200g can.

Is 200g shisha tobacco now banned? (No – that’s what’s behind it)
No, there is no ban on 200g cans. The confusion is understandable, because there has actually already been a legal size limit: From July 1, 2022 until June 30, 2024 Water pipe tobacco was only allowed in packs in Germany 25 grams be sold. This rule became Repealed without replacement on July 1, 2024 – since then, according to the General Customs Directorate, this has been express all Pack sizes permitted as long as the can bears a German tax stamp. We wrote about how the 200g cans came back in the article Blackburn 200g available again reported.
So the change is on September 1st, 2026 no legal requirement, but one entrepreneurial decision of the manufacturer – legally they are allowed to continue with the 200g can. A look at the costs shows why they still don't do it.
Why are the 200g cans being abolished?
The brands give the official reason increasing procurement and production costs. The largest single item for years has been the Tobacco tax: Hookah tobacco is taxed like pipe tobacco (€15.66/kg plus 13.13% of the retail price) – and one has been coming since 2022 Additional tax specifically for hookah tobacco on top of that, which has risen in stages:
| Period | Additional tax on water pipe tobacco |
|---|---|
| 2022 | €15.00/kg |
| 2023-2024 | €19.00/kg |
| 2025 | €21.00/kg |
| since January 1st, 2026 | €23.00/kg (last legally fixed level) |
The highest level of the Tobacco Tax Modernization Act has been in effect since January 2026. In total there is a 200g can - depending on the sales price - Roughly €11 tobacco tax, plus VAT. By the way, there was already a similar picture at Darkside at the beginning of 2026: there the can sizes remained the same, but the prices rose noticeably (our report on this).
That the brands the price increase with a smaller can Combine, may also be due to the shelf price: €24.90 for 100g seems more accessible than almost €50 for a 200g can - the principle is known as “shrinkflation” from the supermarket. There is also a practical reason: the tobacco tax is over Tax stamps (bands) paid, which must exactly match the combination of quantity and package price - grammage changes are therefore complex for manufacturers and are therefore bundled together on a deadline.
How much more expensive does shisha tobacco really get?
Let's honestly convert the announced prices to the same quantity - once 200 grams, today as a can, in the future as 2 × 100g or pro rata from the 125g can:

| Brand | so far per 100g | in the future per 100g | surcharge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blackburn | €17.95 (from the 200g can) | €24.90 | +39% |
| Sebero | €17.45 | €23.90 | +37% |
| Jent | €17.95 | €24.90 | +39% |
| Must H | €17.95 | €23.92 (from the 125g can) | +33% |
And even those who buy small today will pay more in the future: The Blackburn 100g tin increases from the previous €18.90 to the announced €24.90 (+32%) Must-H 125g can from €23.90 to €29.90 (+25%). So it's not just the 200g fans that are affected - the entire price structure of these brands is moving up.
Outlook: This is how tobacco prices will continue until 2030
Anyone who hopes that this round will stay has to be strong: the federal government has... July 6, 2026 passed a bill that... annual tax increases from 2027 to 2030 - for cigarettes, fine cut, e-liquids and specifically also water pipe tobacco. The total load today is expected to be around €56 to €188.46 per kilogram increase – more than three times. A 200g quantity of tobacco could therefore be used in the future around €60 cost.
Is it worth buying 200g cans now?
For yours Strains: yes. The calculation is simple: you save compared to the future gram price around €12-14 per 200g can – with three or four cans that is the equivalent of one more can. Two honest rules help:
- Only buy what you actually smoke. If unopened, shisha tobacco lasts for around two years - a supply for 12-24 months is not critical, and a "bunker" beyond that does not make sense.
- Store correctly: unopened, originally sealed, cool (room temperature), dark and not next to the heater or in the sun.
