Why berry-blackberry works so well

A classic berry mix lives off the sweetness of strawberry, raspberry and blueberry – over time that can turn jammy. This is exactly where blackberry comes in: its dark, slightly tart forest note with fine acidity grounds the mix and makes it more grown-up without overwhelming the berry sweetness. If you go for this, though, expect nicotine: a large share of the finished flavors sit on a strong dark-blend base – across all flavor directions, from lemonade-sweet to woodsy-tart.

Mixing it yourself: the right ratio

60/40 in favor of the berry mix has proven itself: it delivers sweetness and volume, while the blackberry adds depth and sets the tart edge. If you love the forest character, go to 50/50 – even more blackberry makes the head noticeably tarter. Mix both flavors thoroughly instead of layering, loosely into a Phunnel set it and leave 2–3 mm of air to the HMD let it. Since this combo contains a lot of Dark Blends, start with reduced heat and prefer to adjust upward – dark tobacco quickly responds to too much charcoal with harshness.
