What setup is the head suitable for?
Both for aluminum foil/chimney top setup and for HMDs (Heat Management Devices) such as Kaloud, MAXX Guard or ONMO. The clay absorbs the heat evenly and releases it constantly to the tobacco.
How much tobacco does it fit?
The tobacco deposit is 13-17 g. Insert the tobacco loosely and fluffily, do not press it tightly - this ensures air circulation and the draw is easy.
Which coal do you recommend?
Natural charcoal from coconut shell in 26 mm or 27 mm. For HMD 27 mm, for aluminum foil setup 26 mm. 2-3 cubes is the guideline - with dark blend tobaccos, be conservative with heat.
What material is the head made of?
Unglazed, fired clay. Darkside deliberately uses unglazed surfaces because they absorb and release heat more evenly than glazed heads.
How do I clean my head?
After the session, remove any remaining tobacco, then rinse with warm water - no soap. Unglazed clay absorbs aromas; cleaning agents would distort the taste. Over time the head develops a beautiful patina.
