Sorted by flavour: Every flavour has its own page with all tins that carry this flavour – across all brands and pack sizes. The largest are Ice · Lemon · Mint · Strawberry · Grape · Mango · Watermelon · Blueberry. The complete list can be found in the Flavor overview.
Sorted by tobacco type: Virginia is the lighter, milder base; Darkblend is darker, stronger in nicotine and needs less heat. What this means in practice is explained further down under Virginia vs. Darkblend.
Types of Hookah Tobacco – Virginia vs. Darkblend
The most important distinction when it comes to shisha tobacco lies in the choice of base tobacco. The raw tobacco used not only influences the intensity of the nicotine, but also how the flavors develop. There are two main types:
Virginia tobacco: Brands such as Adalya, Al Fakher and Holster are based on Virginia tobacco.
Burley tobacco (dark blend): Brands such as Darkside and Blackburn use this dark base tobacco for their blends.
How is shisha tobacco made?
The production of hookah tobacco is a complex process. The tobacco is first dried, cut and then mixed with glycerine and molasses to give it its moist consistency. Various flavors are then added before the tobacco is left to mature for several weeks to allow the flavors to fully develop.
The nicotine content of hookah tobacco
Shisha tobacco contains different amounts of nicotine depending on the base tobacco used. 20g of Virginia tobacco contain about 10mg of nicotine.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Virginia and Darkblend tobacco?
Virginia tobacco is washed several times and is therefore milder with less nicotine. Darkblend (Burley tobacco) is not washed, has a significantly higher nicotine content and a more intense, smokier taste. Brands such as Darkside and Blackburn use Darkblend, while Adalya and Al Fakher rely on Virginia.
How do I store shisha tobacco correctly?
Shisha tobacco should be stored in an airtight container in a cool and dark place. Best in the original tin or a sealable container. Avoid direct sunlight and heat, otherwise the tobacco will dry out and lose its flavor. If stored well, Shisha tobacco lasts for several months.
How is shisha tobacco taxed?
Shisha tobacco is subject to tobacco tax in Germany. The tax rate is calculated per kilogram and is already included in the sales price. All tobacco sold at HookahX is properly taxed and bears the German tax stamp.
How much tobacco do I need per shisha bowl?
Depending on the size of your head, you will need between 10 and 20 grams of shisha tobacco per head. A standard phunnel holds approx. 15g. With a 200g can you get around 10-15 sessions. With a multi-hole head, consumption is slightly lower.
Can I order shisha tobacco online and have it delivered to the Packstation?
No, orders containing shisha tobacco cannot be delivered to a packing station. Since tobacco products require age verification by DHL, delivery must be made personally to the front door. A valid ID is required upon reception.
