The Vandenberg V3R is the top edge of the head not glazed — it shows the raw, matt clay in its natural sand look. Glazed edges are smooth and can cause a smokebox or HMD to shift when exposed to heat and light impact. The raw sound surface of the V3R acts like a non-slip pad: your attachment sits more firmly, doesn't slip and stays securely in place.

The glaze on the rest of the body remains intact - sealed inside and out, only the top contact surface of the edge intentionally remains raw. The V3R combines the advantages of the sealed reactive glaze with significantly better grip for your heat management.

The Vandenberg factory in Germany makes each head individually by hand. The glaze is in the so-called Reactive process applied - each batch produces different speckles and color gradients, no head is exactly the same as the other. This seals the ceramic completely: molasses residue can be easily wiped off and the clay does not absorb any juice residue.

Care & Cleaning

The glazed body is completely sealed - after each session, a quick wipe with warm water, if necessary with a little detergent, is sufficient. Simply rinse the unglazed edge with warm water; Due to the raw clay it can darken slightly - this is normal and not a defect.

If you use it intensively, we recommend rinsing thoroughly every few sessions - the ceramic itself is long-term stable and can easily withstand hundreds of sessions. Important: no dishwasher and no aggressive cleaners - these damage the reactive glaze.
