Moze Varity Lounge Black – Frosted Bowl – Black Steel Shisha

Of all versions of the Varity Lounge Black, Black Steel holds back the most: there's no colored sleeve on the smoke column here, the shisha shows black-coated stainless steel throughout. That's exactly the difference to the Wavy variants – a single metal surface from charcoal plate to base instead of a material mix. Added to that is the Frosted Bowl, whose satin-finished glass scatters the light instead of letting it through.

The whole thing is carried by the Lounge Base with one hose connection, i.e. the single-hose version of the series. Assembled, the shisha stands at approx. 52 cm tall and approx. 4.1 kg; stainless steel and glass are used. Included are the shisha, charcoal plate, Frosted Bowl and seals, while hose, head and charcoal are deliberately left out.

Design & craftsmanship: Black Steel on Black

At Moze, Black Steel stands for the sleeveless version: where other variants carry a resin or plastic part, the metal stays visible here. Black here means coated stainless steel, silver the natural surface – technically both are identical, it's purely visual. The result is a shisha without a material change and without a contrast edge.

The only break in this lineup is the Frosted bowl: thick-walled, satin-finished glass, 21.5 cm at the widest point and 26.5 cm tall, tapering upward into a very long, narrow neck with a 4.2 cm opening (7 cm including the adapter). Because the glass is satin-finished, the water level looks muted instead of sharply visible – the difference from the Clear bowl lies solely in this look.

Individually adjustable draw

The sentence Moze uses to explain the Varity reads: „Because both the dip tube and the smoke column are individually separable, you decide for yourself how your Varity feels when smoking.“ Instead of one continuous tube, you get segments that you combine differently – so draw resistance becomes a setting, not a factory property. As a range, the manufacturer names „a more direct draw or a softer pull,“ without assigning a result to a specific build.

The diffuser and blow-off belong to the same modular system. The diffuser sits at the lower end of the dip tube, is available separately and therefore replaceable; its job is a quieter, softer draw. The blow-off is its own ring that can be placed in two positions within the setup – up under the charcoal plate or down at the base – and works with balls, 7 mm in the base, 11 mm in the hose adapter.

Lounge or Squad? The comparison

Exactly one component separates the Lounge and the Squad: the base. On the Lounge it comes with one hose connection, on the Squad with four. The smoke column, dip tube, diffuser, charcoal plate and blow-off ring are the same parts in both models, and so are the dimensions and weight. There's no quality difference in smoking performance – unused connections on the Squad are simply closed off, that's the intended way to run it.

For the configurations, this applies: Frosted and Clear differ only in the bowl's glass, satin versus clear, with identical dimensions. The smoke column set does entirely without the bowl, comes to about 49 cm and approx. 2.2 kg without it, and is aimed at anyone who wants to pick their own bowl.

Who is this Varity suitable for?

The Black Steel version is the choice for anyone who doesn't care about color on the shisha, or thinks there's too much of it: a metal surface, no contrasts, plus the satin Frosted Bowl as the only material change. With one hose connection it suits sessions alone or with two, while the Squad Base with four connections is meant for larger groups.

Because all core parts – smoke column, dip tube, charcoal plate, diffuser, blow-off ring – are standalone components that Moze also carries individually, the Varity is well suited for people who maintain their device long-term and replace individual parts instead of swapping the whole shisha.

Care & construction

Assembly follows the order base, dip tube with diffuser, screw on the bowl, place the smoke column on top, charcoal plate on top of that. To clean it, take the smoke column and dip tube apart again, warm water and a brush are enough for stainless steel and glass. For the long, narrow bowl neck you'll need a correspondingly long brush.

Keep abrasive sponges and aggressive cleaners away from the black coating and let all parts dry completely before the next assembly. While you're at it, take a look at the seals – they're wear parts and the most common cause when a shisha suddenly draws false air.

Small inclusions (e.g. air) in the bowl's glass can't be ruled out with hand-crafted production and are not grounds for a complaint. The same applies to slight color deviations from the product photo as well as to differences in the height of the bowl base.
