Moze Varity Lounge Black – Frosted Bowl – Original Black Shisha

Original Black is the version that sits between the metallic Black Steel version and the colorful Wavy sleeves: here the sleeve isn't made of acrylic/epoxy resin, but of POM, an engineering plastic – and in black at that. So instead of a color contrast, this variant works with a material change on an otherwise all-black shisha. It's rounded off with the Frosted Bowl made of satin-finished glass.

As a Lounge, everything runs through one hose connection, which sets the model up for sessions alone or with one other person. Assembled, it comes to approx. 52 cm in height and approx. 4.1 kg; the material list includes stainless steel, glass and POM. The box contains the shisha, charcoal plate, Frosted Bowl and seals – everything around head, charcoal and hose you put together yourself.

Design & craftsmanship: Original Black on Black

Black meets black here: the metal parts of the Black version are coated stainless steel (the Silver variant shows the same parts in natural silver), the sleeve on top is a black POM component. This keeps the shisha monochrome, yet gains a visible articulation on the smoke column through the shift from metal to plastic. Moze offers sleeves in Short and Long, and the smoke column can be lengthened via extension segments.

The Frosted Bowl brings the third material into play: thick-walled, satin glass, 21.5 cm at its widest point, 26.5 cm tall, which at the top opens into a very long, narrow neck with a 4.2 cm opening – 7 cm with the adapter. Compared to the Clear Bowl it differs only in the glass finish, not in the dimensions.

Individually adjustable draw

Moze sums up the Varity's principle in one sentence: "Because both the dip tube and the smoke column are individually separable, you decide for yourself how your Varity feels when smoking." In practice, this means you separate both components and reassemble them in a different combination until the draw resistance matches what you have in mind. The stated range spans from "a more direct pull" to "a softer draw" – which build delivers which result is deliberately left undefined by Moze.

Two additional components come into play. The diffuser at the lower end of the dip tube is replaceable and provides a quieter, gentler draw. The blow-off is a standalone ring that the setup allows in two positions: at the top under the charcoal plate or at the bottom on the base. Its ball valve uses 7 mm in the base and 11 mm in the hose adapter.

Lounge or Squad? The comparison

Only the base separates the two models in the series: one hose connection on the Lounge, four on the Squad. Everything else – smoke column, dip tube, diffuser, charcoal plate, blow-off ring, height and weight – is identical. So the question isn't which model smokes better, but how many people are smoking along; unused connections on the Squad are sealed off anyway.

For the configurations, the bowl is what decides: this Frosted version comes with satin glass, the Clear version the same glass in a clear look with identical dimensions. If you'd rather pick your own bowl, go for the smoke column set, which measures around 49 cm without a bowl and weighs approx. 2.2 kg.

Perfect accessories for your Varity

For the first session, you still need a Hose including Mouthpiece for the one connection, plus a Smokebox or HMD and Natural charcoal for the 19 cm charcoal plate. The Shisha tobacco you're choosing by flavor. Should the glass bowl ever break, you'll find a replacement under Bowls.

Who is this Varity suitable for?

This variant suits anyone who wants an all-black shisha but not the purely metallic Black Steel look: the POM sleeve adds a material accent without bringing color into play. With one hose connection it's tailored to solo and two-person sessions.

It also makes sense for anyone who sees their shisha as a system rather than a closed device – sleeve, smoke column, dip tube, charcoal plate, diffuser and blow-off ring are all separate components that Moze also sells individually and that can therefore be replaced or swapped for other versions.

Care & construction

It works in your favor when cleaning that the smoke column and dip tube can be taken apart into segments; that gives you access to inner surfaces that are hard to reach on a fixed tube. Warm water and a brush are enough for stainless steel, glass and the POM sleeve, and for the long, narrow bowl neck you'll need a long brush.

Avoid aggressive or abrasive cleaners – neither the black coating nor the plastic sleeve benefit from them. Let everything dry completely before reassembling, and while you're at it check the seals on the bowl, smoke column and hose connection: porous seals are the most common cause of air leaks.

Small inclusions (e.g. air) in the bowl's glass can't be ruled out with hand-crafted production and are not grounds for a complaint. The same applies to slight color deviations from the product photo as well as to differences in the height of the bowl base.
