Moze Varity Squad Black – Frosted Bowl – Original Black Shisha

Original Black means for the Varity: sleeve yes, color no. On the black-coated stainless steel smoke column sits a sleeve made of POM, a technical plastic – no resin with a wavy structure like the Wavy variants, but a smooth, evenly black sleeve. This exact component is what separates it from the Black Steel version of the same series: there bare coated steel, here an additional layer of plastic.

The rest follows the standard series spec: Squad base with four hose connections, approx. 52 cm height, approx. 4.1 kg weight, 19 cm charcoal plate. Stainless steel, POM, and glass are used – the latter in the form of the satin-finished Frosted Bowl. The shisha is shipped together with this bowl and the seals.

Design & craftsmanship: Original Black on Black

The POM sleeve is the quiet option in the modular system: a smooth black surface with no waves, no gradient, no structure to catch the light. It interrupts the smoke column as its own material section, but stays in the same black as the steel parts above and below it. If you specifically don't want the wave structure of the resin sleeves but still like a visible component edge, this is the one for you.

Base, smoke column and charcoal plate come in the Black version, meaning black-coated stainless steel. For reference: Black and Silver are technically the same shisha on the Varity and differ only in surface finish. The Frosted Bowl underneath is satin and matte, and it visually closes off the body instead of opening it up like the clear bowl does.

Individually adjustable draw

The reason why the Varity is called that is stated by Moze in one sentence: „Because both the dip tube and the smoke column are individually splittable, you decide for yourself how your Varity feels when smoking.“ Both tubes are therefore segmented and can be assembled in different lengths; extension segments additionally allow you to lengthen the smoke column. Moze names a range from a more direct draw to a softer pull, but doesn't assign a result to any specific setup – trying it out is up to you.

The kit also includes the diffuser at the lower end of the dip tube, which is removable and replaceable as a single part and makes the draw quieter and softer, as well as the blow-off ring. The latter isn't a fixed part of the base, but its own component, which depending on the setup can sit up under the charcoal plate or down on the base. Inside the valve itself, balls of 7 mm work in the base and 11 mm in the hose adapter.

Squad or Lounge? The comparison

The two Varity models differ solely in the base: four hose connections on the Squad Base, one on the Lounge Base. Smoke column, dip tube, diffuser, blow-off ring and charcoal plate come from the same parts set on both, height (approx. 52 cm) and weight (approx. 4.1 kg) are the same. Squad means sessions with several people, Lounge means alone or as a pair – and unused connections on the Squad are simply capped off.

For the configurations you can choose between Clear Bowl, Frosted Bowl and the smoke column set. This variant comes with the Frosted Bowl, so frosted glass; the Clear version is the same size, just clear. Smoking behavior doesn't differ between the two. The smoke column set comes without any bowl at all and is therefore approx. 49 cm without a bowl and approx. 2.2 kg.

Who is this Varity suitable for?

It suits anyone who wants a solid black shisha but doesn't want to give up a sleeve as a design element. The POM section sets a visible edge in the smoke column without bringing a second color into play – that's the middle ground between Black Steel and the colorful Wavy sleeves.

Functionally it's aimed at groups: four hose connections cover a group without anyone having to wait. And because sleeve, diffuser, blow-off ring and charcoal plate are standalone components of the series, you can upgrade the shisha later instead of replacing it.

Care & construction

The big advantage when cleaning is the ability to disassemble: the dip tube and smoke column can be taken apart, so you can reach everywhere with warm water and a brush. Stainless steel and glass handle this without issue; you should avoid aggressive or abrasive cleaners, as they can attack the black coating and the surface of the POM sleeve.

You wipe the sleeve itself down on the outside with a damp cloth. Then let all parts dry well, especially the tube interiors, and check the seals during reassembly – they determine whether the setup is airtight. Remember the order of the segments, then you can restore your preferred setup after every cleaning without any trial and error.

Small inclusions in the bowl's glass, for example trapped air, can't be ruled out with hand-made production and aren't grounds for a complaint. The same applies to slight color deviations from the product photo and differences in the height of the bowl base.
