Moze Varity Squad Black – Smoke Column Set – Wavy Yellow

This set is the Varity without glass. In the box you'll find the smoke column on the Squad base with four hose connections, the charcoal plate and the seals – you supply the bowl yourself. The Moze Varity Squad Black smoke column set in Wavy Yellow is therefore not a stripped-down version, but a configuration with one open decision: push-fit bowl or screw bowl, since Moze designs the Varity for both.

The yellow sleeve made of acrylic/epoxy resin sits on black-coated stainless steel. Without a bowl the setup measures approx. 49 cm and weighs approx. 2.2 kg; the dip tube is 12 mm on the inside, the smoke column 11 mm, the charcoal plate 19 cm in diameter.

Design & Craftsmanship: Wavy Yellow on Squad Black

Yellow is the loudest tone in the Wavy series and here it lives off the contrast with the black-coated base and the black charcoal plate. The sleeve's wave relief catches light differently in the raised areas than in the recesses, which makes the color gradient look different depending on the viewing angle.

Because this configuration comes without a bowl, the mechanics sit more exposed than in the glass versions: the Squad Base with its four connections, dip tube mount and blow-off ring are directly visible. This reflects the Varity's modular principle, in which sleeve, charcoal plate, diffuser and blow-off ring are independent components that Moze also sells individually.

Individually adjustable draw

Moze describes the Varity with this sentence: "Because both the dip tube and the smoke column can be split individually, you decide for yourself how your Varity feels when smoking." A range is named between a more direct draw and a smoother pull – without stating which setup serves which end of that range. That leaves the fine-tuning up to you, not the spec sheet.

Two more parts can be swapped: the blow-off is a standalone ring that Moze shows in two installation positions in the product photos – up top under the charcoal plate and down at the base. The diffuser at the lower end of the dip tube provides a quieter, smoother draw and is also available separately. There are also extension segments for the smoke column and dip tube that let you lengthen the column and use the long sleeves; they're not part of this set.

Squad or Lounge? The comparison

The Squad Base comes with four hose connections, the Lounge Base one – nothing else separates the two models. Smoke column, dip tube, diffuser, blow-off ring and charcoal plate come from the same parts set, height and weight match. The number of connections doesn't create a disadvantage when smoking; anyone using fewer hoses simply closes off the remaining connections.

With the configurations you choose between Clear Bowl (clear glass), Frosted Bowl (satin-finished glass) – both approx. 52 cm and approx. 4.1 kg – and this smoke column set without a bowl at approx. 49 cm and approx. 2.2 kg. Clear and Frosted differ only in the glass look.

Who is this Varity suitable for?

This set is right for anyone who already owns a bowl or wants to pick one out deliberately – and for anyone who sees their shisha not as a finished package but as a building-block system. Four connections on the Squad base make it the choice for evenings when several people are smoking along. It also makes sense as a second smoke column alongside an existing Moze if you want to switch up the color.

It's not suitable if you're looking for a shisha that's ready to use right away. Bowl, hose, tobacco head and charcoal all need to be added; if you'd rather skip that, go for the Varity Squad Black with Clear or Frosted Bowl (approx. 52 cm, approx. 4.1 kg).

Care & construction

Clean the smoke column, dip tube and charcoal plate with warm water and a brush. Abrasive pastes and aggressive cleaners have no place on the black coating and the resin sleeve, since they can attack the surfaces. Then let everything dry well before putting the parts back together.

Assembly runs from bottom to top: bowl onto the base, then smoke column with dip tube, then charcoal plate and tobacco head. The seals deserve special attention here – on a divisible column they get moved more often, and they're what keeps the setup airtight.
